About Us
Founded by two retired hatchery managers each with nearly thirty years of hatchery experience, Redd Zone is a family-owned business located in Astoria, Oregon near the confluence of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. Tod Jones, one of Redd Zone's original founders is now the sole owner but is assisted by his son-in-law, Jeremy Richardson. Jeremy is a graduate of the University of Oregon's Institute of Molecular Biochemistry and is a retired detective with the Oregon State Police, Fish and Wildlife Division's Special Investigations Unit.

Redd Zone is dedicated to advancing the development of hatchery incubation equipment and protocols that reduce the environmental footprint of typical production hatcheries and improve the performance of restoration hatcheries. Our focus is decreasing the mishandling of eggs and fry to reduce cumulative stressors, thereby producing healthier robust fry that most closely emulate wild fish.
Our innovations in early incubation reduce water use, allow for temperature adjustment and eliminate the need for using harsh chemicals for the prophylactic treatment of fungus. From individual incubators to fully enclosed instant hatcheries we address the needs of projects of any size. Our staff has decades of experience in propagation programs throughout the United States and Canada.
